Schedule a Pause in the Fundamentals Cycle

2 min watch • Updated August 21, 2026 •

Schedule a pause when you don't want new Fundamentals content going out, like a holiday week or a company shutdown. This walkthrough shows how to add a pause, confirm the schedule picks back up on the right date, and edit or remove a pause later.

Steps

1. Open Pause settings

Log in to CultureWise, go to the admin panel, click Fundamentals, then click the Pause settings button in the top-right corner.

2. Name the pause

In the Pause Settings window, enter a clear name that says why you're pausing, for example Thanksgiving Week Pause.

3. Set the start date and length

Choose the start date and how long the pause runs. For example, start on Monday the 23rd and pause for one week. Check that the dates cover the full period you want blocked.

4. Add the pause and confirm it saved

Click Add Pause. The pause appears in the Pause Settings list, where you can edit it, delete it, or schedule another one.

5. Review the Fundamentals schedule

Scroll to the Fundamentals Schedule section and confirm it reflects the pause. The current Fundamental runs until the pause starts, holds through the pause week, and the next Fundamental begins after the pause ends.

6. Confirm no content goes out during the pause

Check that the paused dates show no new content and that the schedule resumes on the date you expect. For example, a pause from November 23rd through the 29th resumes on November 30th with the next behavior.

7. Manage pauses as your calendar changes

You can schedule several pauses at once, and a pause can run longer than a week. Come back to Pause settings any time to remove a pause you no longer need or update one that's changed.

Cautionary notes

  • Double-check the pause dates before you save.
  • A pause stops new content for that whole period, so confirm the timing with your team first.
  • If you delete a pause, the schedule may resume earlier than you expect.
  • Review the schedule after every change so the next Fundamental starts on the right date.

Tips for efficiency

  • Use a consistent naming convention, like Holiday Name + Year.
  • Plan pauses ahead for holidays, company events, and blackout periods.
  • Verify the schedule right after you add a pause so you catch mistakes early.
  • Edit or delete an existing pause instead of creating a duplicate.
